We spend a lot of our hard earned money in buying a smartphone. Hence, a wise thing to do would be to consider the below mentioned factors for making the right decision instead of crying over the split milk later.
The Build
The look and durability of a phone depend on the material it's made up of. Most of the smartphones are built with metal or plastic and very few with glass. If you drop your phone too frequently, you must avoid the glass option to be in the safe zone.
Display
For most of us, a large display with high resolution is very fascinating. It is true that large displays cook classy but usually the more high-end the phone, the larger display it has. So, you have to decide what kind of a smartphone user you are.
If you use your phone for texting, calling and browsing the net, you could probably do with a display ranging from 5 to 5.5 inch HD or full HD resolution. If you stream videos, play high-resolution games or edit photos and videos, you need a display ranging from 5.5 to 6 inch HD or QHD resolution.
Too big displays make the phone bulky and are unmanageable with just one hand. Nowadays, AMOLED screens are grabbing more eyeballs than LCD ones and some are even HDR supported for better viewing experience.
However, if you want to secure these features, your budget must be flexible.
Camera
How many megapixels does the camera have? This is the most widely asked question to the vendor while buying a mobile. The fact of the matter is, the quality of the image does not depend on the megapixels alone.
For outstanding pictures, the other important features you must look for in a camera are the aperture, autofocus, speed, ISO levels, pixel size etc.
If you are a photo freak who is buying a phone for the camera alone then look for a phone that has 12 to 16 MP under f/2.0 or even lower for rapid shots in low lights too. Whereas, if you are a selfie person, you can do with even an 8 to 12MP camera with f/2.0 to f/2.2 aperture.
Battery
Yes, the battery is of utmost importance to many, especially for game lovers and shoppers. The other specs of the phone like the processor, the operating system, the screen resolution and others determine the longevity of the battery life. If you want a long battery life, a phone with 3000 mAh will be a reliable option.
Today there are even options for juicing up your smartphone fast with wireless charging. It enables you to charge your phone quickly at least possible time. If you have the plan to buy an Android phone and need fast charging feature, look for Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 or its other older version.
Processor
The performance of a phone depends on its processor. But the processing power of the phone depends on UI, OS and others. Among Android phones the Snapdragon 600 and Snapdragon 835 processors are the leading ones. If you are a gamer then Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 or Snapdragon 820/821 can make multitasking smooth for you.
Memory
Both RAM and internal memory count for a better user experience. More than half of your smartphone's memory is eaten up by the apps you install while setting up your new phone. Then comes the videos, photos, music, etc. Hence, select a phone with at least 2GB RAM and at least 16GB of internal memory which has a huge expandable memory capacity so that you can insert a microSD card for maximum storage of data.
A close look at the smartphone you have decided to buy with reference to the factors discussed above, along with an awareness of the user reviews will lead to a smart decision. Always ask questions, gather information and trust the word-of-mouth before spending a good deal of your money.
