There are several all-in-ones in the market, but I found the HP Officejet 6500 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer a very useful model. Although it can be faulty at times and it has a lot of flaws, I still depend on it to provide print-outs for me, especially for my home sideline business. I am able to print great flyers and brochures on this device, and it helps my business a lot. But let's get to the review part so you can discover what exactly are the pros and cons of this model.
Design
The model is certainly professional-looking – it has all the many buttons and the top panel for print-outs and all that. It has a black body with a light gray portion at the bottom. The dimensions of the device are 18.7” x 18.6” x 10.16” and its weight is 19.73 pounds. You can easily set it upon the desktop or on a shelf near your work station.
The LCD display is a simple 2-line text box where basic information is displayed, and it has not much function apart from that. It looks as though it's very high-class, but with regards to the overall functionality, it might not fit its appearance.
Printing and Other Functions
It can print fairly fast, and this is one feature I like in this model. It prints black documents with a speed of 32 pages per minute, while for colored documents, 31 pages per minute. The print quality is also excellent. It can print on both sides of paper automatically, which helps you save a lot of paper and you won't have to worry about wasting any. This is especially excellent for printing brochures because I can just leave the paper on the feed and wait until the brochure has finished printing. There's no more need to flip the paper and print again, saving a lot of time if you're printing several documents that need to be back to back.
Even if it's an Officejet, you can also print borderless on this device, and photos printed on it are still quite excellent. You can print borderless up to 8.3” x 23.4” and you can also print directly from memory cards of all sizes and types.
The scanner can produce document resolutions of 2,400 dpi for optical scanning and 19,200 dpi for enhanced scanning. There's a flatbed and an ADF scanner, and you can scan legal-sized documents through the ADF and letter-sized documents through the flatbed.
This device has a fax machine which has a transmission speed of three seconds per page. The resolution of the faxes produced by the printer can reach up to 300 x 300 dpi. You can also fax up to 100 pages at one time. You can save up to 100 numbers in the speed dial function of the fax machine.
The copier can produce output as fast as the printer, both for black and colored documents, and can produce 100 copies at one time. You can also reduce or enlarge the size of the copies you will make, from the scales of 25% to 400%.
Other Features
Since the device is Energy Star qualified, it makes using it more beneficial for Mother Nature compared to using other printers or all-in-ones. The machine has built-in wireless connectivity which lets you share it with other computers for easy printing. There are issues about its ink use, though, and I am one of those who can say that this printer really sucks the ink out of the cartridges. I also heard some people talk about the installing problems of the device, which I also had some problems with, but I managed to pull it off after a long discussion with a customer service representative.
Conclusion
The truth is this printer is perfect for producing great print-outs and it really has that HP-quality printing, but the facts like it eats up a lot of ink and it's difficult to set up can make it difficult to appreciate the all-in-one printer. Nevertheless, I have been using it for quite a while and I am very happy with the print outs it produces, setting aside the high cost of ink and the sometimes incorrect print-outs. For me, I give the HP Officejet 6500 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer a score of 7 out of 10, and I can still recommend it to those who are looking for a great all-in-one with great features, regardless of the ink cost.
