How do the Apple iPhone 4 and the Google Nexus S compare? More importantly, which one would win in a big phone fight?

Size & Weight:
How large are these two phones? The iPhone 4 is a neat 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3mm handset. While Google's phone is 123.9 x 63.0 x 10.88mm. The iPhone 4 is the smaller phone. If weight is an issue, then the iPhone 4 is 137g, while the Nexus is 129g.

Connectivity:
The wireless options on the wildly popular iPhone 4 include 3G/HSDPA (7.2Mbps), 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR. Google's Nexus S, meanwhile, dishes up 3G/HSDPA (7.2Mbps), 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR.

Camera:
Apple has built a 5.0 Megapixel lens into the iPhone 4 together with features such as tap to focus video/still images, an LED flash, geo-tagging, VGA and HD video recording (720p). For FaceTime video calls, there's also a second, front-mounted camera.

The Google Nexus S matches its opponent with a 5.0 Megapixel camera of its own, as well as autofocus, an LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus and 720p video recording. Another camera located on the front is ideal for video calls. Just like the iPhone.

Screen/keyboard:
Here's where it gets interesting… The iPhone 4 features a touch-sensitive LCD display, 3.5 inches across with a quoted resolution of 640 x 960 pixels. Jamming 614400 pixels into this screen size gives the iPhone 4 a pixel density of 329.714 pixels per inch (PPI).

In comparison, the Nexus S's touch-sensitive Super AMOLED screen is 4.0 inches wide. Its 480 x 800 pixel resolution loses out to the iPhone 4's display. Compared to its rival, the pixels per inch (PPI) rating of this screen is much lower at 233.25.

Software:
As for software, the iPhone 4 uses iOS4, while the Nexus S runs a pure Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) build.

Storage:
The iPhone 4 wins the internal storage battle with 32GB, compared to 16GB on the Nexus S. The iPhone 4 lacks an expansion slot so 32GB is all the storage you get. The Nexus S is missing an expansion slot and so the phone is restricted to its 16GB of storage.

Extras:
The iPhone 4 also includes GPS/A-GPS, a digital compass and a 3-axis gyroscope. The Nexus S features GPS/A-GPS, a dedicated GPU for faster gaming, haptic feedback vibration, a 3-axis gyroscope, a digital compass and a curved ‘Contour Display'.

It also boasts integrated Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for digital payments.
